Eugen Trinka qualified in Medicine at Vienna University in 1990 and undertook his postgraduate training in Salzburg before becoming a Staff in Neurologist in 1998. Prof. Trinka pursued fellowship training at the Montreal Neurological Institute with Prof. Frederick Andermann and Dr. Francois Dubeau. Since 2003, he has been Associate Professor of Neurology at the Innsbruck Medical University and he became Head of the Epilepsy Service and EEG Laboratory at the Department of Neurology, University Hospital Innsbruck in 2004 to 2010. Prof. Trinka is the President of the Austrian Society for Clinical Neurophysiology and President-Elect of the Society of Epilepsy Surgery centres in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 2009, Prof. Trinka has been elected as an Executive member of the Commission on European Affairs of the International League Against Epilepsy (CEA-ILAE), where he serves as the Treasurer. In addition, Prof. Trinka is a founding member and Vice-President of the European Epilepsy Monitoring Unit Association. Prof. Trinka also serves on the ILAE Task force of Classification of Status Epilepticus and the ILAE working group on pre-clinical drug discovery.
Prof. Trinka has been dedicated to the education and postgraduate training of students and fellows since the beginning of his career. He is currently involved in the educational programme of the CEA-ILAE, which organises, topical courses, regional courses, as well as advanced postgraduate courses in clinical Epileptology, throughout Europe.
